WARRIORS legend Esrom Nyandoro has backed Zimbabwe to go all the way and make a mark in the CAF African Schools Football Championships to be staged in Harare starting on Monday.
While acknowledging that the hosts will not have it easy, Nyandoro lauded the efforts being made by ZIFA to grow the game in the country.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Zimbabwe captain was one of two of African football’s legends, along with former Banyana Banyana hotshot Amanda Dhlamini who helped conduct the draw for both the Boys and Girls Under-15 competitions yesterday.
“Tough groups and I will be keen to see Zimbabwe will fare against such teams like Morocco and DRC (Democratic Republic of Congo).
“There are a lot of exciting games in store. As they are all still Under-15, they are all winners and they must just go out there and enjoy,’’ Nyadoro said.
“I must commend the efforts being made by ZIfa to identify and develop young talent in the country.
“I must also commend CAF for coming up with such programmes that help to prepare young footballers into future national players,’’ he said.
Zimbabwe’s Young Warriors and Young Mighty Warriors will headline a competitive Group A in both the boys’ and girls’ competitions, setting up highly anticipated clashes against some of the continent’s strongest emerging football nations.
