Tourism stakeholders from across Bulawayo Metropolitan Province are today meeting for a consultative workshop aimed at contributing to the development of Zimbabwe’s National Tourism Sector Strategy (NTSS) 2026-2030.
The consultative meeting, convened by the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry (MoTHI), forms part of nationwide engagements to gather stakeholder input for a strategy expected to guide the growth of the country’s tourism sector over the next five years.

The strategy seeks to foster “a competitive, resilient, inclusive and sustainable tourism sector” while ensuring that provincial priorities, opportunities and development aspirations are incorporated into the national blueprint.
This is the third meeting after Mashonaland East and West provinces.
Stakeholders drawn from Government, local authorities, the private sector, community organisations and tourism operators are expected to provide recommendations that will help shape an evidence-based and responsive strategy.
The workshop programme includes a guided reflections on the proposed tourism strategy and breakout sessions focusing on eight strategic pillars that will underpin the NTSS.

These include tourism development and product diversification, human capital development and service excellence, destination accessibility, policy and regulatory strengthening, innovative tourism financing and investment, destination branding and digital transformation, domestic, regional and international market development and promotion as well as sustainable, inclusive and community-based tourism.
Participants will also deliberate on measures to strengthen Zimbabwe’s competitiveness as a tourism destination while enhancing investment, improving service delivery and expanding market access.
The consultations come as Zimbabwe continues to position tourism as one of the key pillars of economic growth under Vision 2030, with increasing emphasis on sustainable development, innovation and community participation.
