THERE was drama and panic at a Bulawayo nightclub when a man walked in strapped with what looked like a real gun, only for cops to discover it was a toy!
Tafadzwa Mugova, a 28-year-old unemployed man from Old Magwegwe, was arrested last Sunday night after bouncers at the nightclub caught him trying to sneak in with a metal pellet gun tucked away like a hitman on a mission.
Fearing the worst, the nightclub security swiftly called the cops who rushed to the scene.
“Police received a report that a man had been found in possession of a gun whilst trying to enter a nightclub in Old Magwegwe. The suspect was apprehended by security during a routine search,” confirmed Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.
On closer inspection, officers found the weapon was in fact a pistol-sized pellet gun, complete with a magazine and one pellet ball.
Asked to explain himself, Mugova told police he wasn’t up to anything sinister. He claimed he was only there to look for his brother who had the house keys and that the toy gun was a souvenir from the Harare Agricultural Show.
Police weren’t convinced and slapped cuffs on him right there.
Investigations are still ongoing, and Mugova remains in police custody.
