A MAN from Harare has appeared in court on allegations of fatally stabbing his rival during a game of snooker over missing tokens.
Blessed Muchenje of Epworth was facing murder charges when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Artwell Sanyatwe yesterday. He was remanded in custody and advised to approach the High Court for bail.
The State alleges that on August 13, at around midnight at Tobela Night Club, Overspill in Epworth, Muchenje and the now deceased were drinking beer while playing snooker.
The prosecutor further alleged that whilst inside the night club, a misunderstanding arose between the two over missing tokens.
The heated argument later degenerated into a fist fight, with Muchenje allegedly manhandling the now deceased outside the night club.
He allegedly stabbed the man twice on the shoulder and once on the back using an Okapi knife.
Muchenje allegedly fled from the scene, leaving the now deceased lying on the ground bleeding profusely.
The now deceased was then ferried to Domboramwari Clinic, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
