TRAIN HITS WOMAN WITH EARPHONES Love for music almost ended her life

A MUTARE woman cheated death by a whisker after she was hit by a train, all because she was lost in her music.
Lisa Shumba (23) was walking along the railway tracks with earphones plugged in when disaster came thundering from behind.

The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) said she couldn’t hear the train’s horn due to the blasting music in her ears.

The quick-thinking train driver hurled a water bottle at her in a desperate bid to get her attention.
The bottle landed in front of her, shocking Lisa into turning around, but it was almost too late. As she tried to leap out of the way, the train clipped her.

“She suffered bruises on her knees and was treated and discharged from hospital,” said NRZ in a statement.
The parastatal praised the driver’s heroic actions and warned the public to stay off the tracks, especially with earphones on.
