Training paves way for young innovators

Entrepreneurship training is essential for aspiring business owners and innovators to turn their dreams and innovative ideas into practical businesses, Dr Gift Machengete director-general of Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) said recently.

Speaking at the conclusion of the “Improve Your Business” training in Harare last Friday, when 42 young entrepreneurs and ICT innovators received certificates, Dr Machengete said structured training illuminated the path to success in the world of entrepreneurship.

“While innovation is crucial, it thrives with the nurturing provided by training programmes.

“These programmes equip participants with valuable knowledge and skills, but more importantly, they instil the confidence and resilience needed to navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship. In the grand tapestry of human history, there are moments when innovation has not just shaped our world but has fundamentally redefined the very essence of humanity.”

Dr Machengete said it was pointless to be an innovator in this demanding economy, if the innovator could not then monetise the innovations.

“While we endeavour to solve national problems through innovation, whatever you come up with should also solve your personal problems by lining your pockets with money.

“This is where entrepreneurship and business sustainability training come in handy. We do not want to see you pushing a cart in down-town Harare showcasing your brilliant innovation for handouts because you would have failed to monetise it, rather we want to see you creating business empires, creating employment and contributing meaningfully to Vision 2030.”

Mrs Sibongile Sibanda, the master trainer from Fine Touch Consulting, expressed her admiration for the participants’ active engagement during the programme.

“Their dedication to applying the content throughout the training was truly impressive,” she said. “Our programme focuses on establishing strong business systems for small businesses led by entrepreneurs and innovators.”
