THE highly-anticipated Ladies’ Sundowner Picnic slated for September 27 in Harare — is generating excitement as some of Zimbabwe’s top most influential women have confirmed participation.

The forum, which promises to be a vibrant and empowering gathering of women entrepreneurs, has lined up speakers such as Mutapa Investment Fund board chairperson Dr Chipo Mutasa, Zimpapers board member Mrs Sibyl Madzikanda, Zimbabwe Free-Range Poultry Association founder Mrs Beauty Jiji — and Grassland Waters Resort visionary Mrs Grace Musandirire.

Initially, the upcoming Ladies’ Sundowner Picnic to be held under the theme, “Creating Generational Wealth,” was planned for August 30 2025 at Villa Gianni Boutique Hotel, Avondale before being rescheduled to allow for greater stakeholder engagement and to deliver a more impactful experience for attendees.

Organised by Zimpapers through its flagship brands, The Herald and Star FM, the event aims to unite a diverse network of women — from seasoned business leaders to emerging start-ups — in a celebration of entrepreneurship, collaboration and personal growth.

In an interview, Zimpapers public relations and events manager Mrs Pauline Matanda expressed optimism over the quality of speakers at the event saying the event would leave a memorable impact to attendees.

“We find ourselves truly excited about the calibre of speakers confirmed at the Ladies’ Sundowner Picnic — their influence, experience and commitment to women empowerment align perfectly with the spirit of the event.

“Therefore, attendees can expect rich conversations, powerful storytelling, and practical insights that will leave an indelible mark as far as empowerment is concerned,” she said.

At least 100 women are expected to grace the occasion where the confirmed speakers will share inspiring and unfiltered stories from their entrepreneurial journeys, offering attendees valuable insights into the highs and lows of business leadership.

The Herald Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo stressed the significance of the upcoming event in Zimpapers’ broader mission to empower women in business and foster collaboration over competition.

“Through events like the Ladies’ Sundowner Picnic, we are building a space where women can connect authentically, exchange ideas, and leave with renewed purpose. It’s about showing up as you are and being seen,” she said.

“Events like these are more than networking platforms. They are statements of intent,” Ruzvidzo added.

“They show that the Zimbabwean woman is not waiting to be invited to the table — she is building her own.”
