JAZZ artist, Chido Machanzi, reckons women deserve a chance to work for themselves.
She said men, who bar their spouses from hustling, should pamper them with gifts.
The versatile songbird opened up in a new single titled ‘Ndipe Mari.’
It has an accompanying video which is trending on Youtube.
In an interview with H-Metro, Machanzi said her heart bleeds for men who block their wives from going to work.
“The song ‘Ndipe Mari’ was inspired by how a certain woman was mistreated by her husband whereby he didn’t want her to go to work, or do anything that she had potential in.
“Instead, the man wants her to stay home bearing children and does not buy her clothes as he treats her like a slave, which is something that is happening in homes, and it needs to be talked about,” she said.
The multi-tasking diva, who doubles as a painter, believes she nailed it on the visuals.
“What makes the visuals unique from other videos is that this one has a lot of drama and I had to look mature like a mother while I’m not yet a mother.
“It took me two months to put everything together and make everything çome out.
“As for the cost of the video, altogether, it wasn’t really much but I can’t say the amount,” she said.
As we approach the second half of the year, Machanzi said she had a lot in store for fans.
“My promise to the fans is another song titled ‘Jealous Love’, which I did with the Australian producer Hlats, which is on its way.
“I have a series of live shows lined up.
“Regarding my brand, my honest opinion is that I feel like the more I release new songs it’s growing and because I’m getting attention from all over slowly but surely.
“ I’m grateful.”
The 24-year-old is one of the promising songbirds making an impression in the male-dominated music industry.
She tackles serious issues with each release.
She recently released the track titled ‘Ngatirambane,’ which helped her nurse a heartbreak.
She featured Bulawayo-based songbird Mandymae on the song recorded by Bleqboydedan at Allied Kings Entertainment.
She has been in the music industry for the past five years.
She has also done a number of collaborations with a number of artists, including Terry Africa, on the song Musikana Wemagitare in 2019.
In 2020, she did another collaboration with Maskiri on the song Kana Waenda Joni and this year she combined forces Sudanese Beçkie Johnz on the song Manyemwe.
Besides music, she is also a model and marketer with a leading agency in the capital.
She owes her success to her father, who is managing her affairs.
