WHAT was meant to be a routine drill turned into a mid-air nightmare!
A member of the Air Force of Zimbabwe had a narrow escape this morning after his parachute got tangled in towering pine trees during a rehearsal jump behind the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) in Bulawayo.

Luckily, the Bulawayo Fire and Ambulance Department sprang into action, using an aerial appliance reaching 25 metres high to rescue the stranded officer in a dramatic treetop mission.
“It was a nice and swift rescue operation,” said Chief Fire Officer Mhlangano Moyo, confirming the incident. “The officer was safely lowered and transported to United Bulawayo Hospitals for further medical attention.”
The airborne mishap unfolded during preparations linked to the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) week, sparking concern among onlookers—but thanks to the quick-thinking rescue team, disaster was averted.
From high-flying rehearsals to a heart-stopping hang-up—Bulawayo’s emergency crews once again proved they’ve got nerves of steel and ropes to match!
