Trial date for O’ Level certificates forgery suspects

Harare regional magistrate Mrs Marehwanazvo Gofa has set October 1 to 3 as the trial dates for four people who allegedly forged Zimsec Ordinary and Advanced Level certificates and used forged certificates in an attempt to gain entry into foreign universities.
Cindy Mutswatiwa (29), Kundai Mutape (39), a registered consultant for foreign universities, Malvern Nengomasha (32), a diplomatic bag courier in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and Molyn Mugodi (40) are facing forgery charges.

Allegations are that sometime in June 2022, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) officers arrested Mugodi for creating fake national identity cards that were being used to defraud pensioners.

The officer also discovered that Mugodi’s printer and computer were being used to create fake Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (Zimsec) Ordinary and Advanced Level certificates.

Investigations showed that Mugodi was working with the trio in an elaborate scheme, whereby they authenticated the fake certificates at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade for a fee.

Around January 2022, Mutswatiwa forged her O’ Level certificate intending to apply to study for a degree in dentistry at the University of Donetsk in Ukraine.
Mugodi also forged an O’ Level certificate for Mutape.
