TRIANGLE scored three unanswered goals in the second half to collect maximum points against Bulawayo City in a Castle Lager Premiership football match at Gibbo yesterday.

Triangle started as a better side in what was largely a dull first half. Far side official Dumisani Khumalo was at the centre of controversy flagging what looked like a genuine goal for the hosts in the 16th minute.

Triangle captain Donald Ngoma was quick to react slotting his effort home from a rebound following a free-kick by Misheck Ngwenya. Ngoma was adjudged to be off-side to the frustration of the home side.

Khumalo then flagged off-side when Arnold Ncube had signaled for a penalty in the 36th minute.

Triangle had a chance to score but defender Tawanda Chisi’s looping effort hit the crossbar on the cusp of half-time as the teams went to the break goalless.

Fellow defender Kelvin Gwao pushed forward as they searched for an opener. His headed effort was ruled for off-side in the 55th minute following a corner before he crashed another effort against the crossbar a minute later.

Triangle eventually got a chance to score when first assistant referee Colin Muringai signaled for a penalty for the home side. Gerald Bhero took responsibility and converted his effort from the spot to give his side a slender advantage in the 58th minute.

Triangle added the second goal in the 66th minute when Ngwenya capitalised following poor communication between City goalkeeper Reward Muza and defender Wilfred Munorwei.

Ngoma added the third goal for the home side four minutes later as the hosts completed the rout with three goals in 12 minutes.

Speed merchant Bhero dribbled past two defenders before feeding Ngoma who made no mistake from two yards out.

Triangle coach Jairos Tapera was happy with the result after drawing against Whawha last weekend.

“It was was one of our best games in terms of attack. We could have scored two in the first half but we came back hungrier in the second half.

“I can’t comment on the disallowed goals, I can only say the goals we got are the ones we deserved. And those decisions which went against us count for nothing now.”

His opposite number Farai Tawachera was not convinced with his charges following the defeat.

“We didn’t come to the party today. We were slow in our reaction. Our intensity was slow but that’s football. When you don’t take your chances you get punished and that’s what happened today.
