IT is really hard to be Genesis Mangombe at this moment. The Triangle coach has a mammoth task ahead of him.
He was called in at the Lowveld side as a fixer, to save the club from relegation just like he did last season.
Last season he masterminded what was without doubt a great escape; he even led the Sugar Sugar boys to the Chibuku Super Cup final, losing 1-0 to Dynamos.
Mangombe returned to Triangle last month once again to help them survive relegation.
Unlike last season, this time around, the former Dynamos and Yadah coach has a much more difficult task.
Triangle anchor the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table with 18 points.
There are seven matches before the season ends and Triangle needs 20 points to reach the 38 point mark, which has historically been enough to survive relegation.
This is where it gets scary for the Sugar Sugar boys.
It means they have to win all their remaining matches and hope results elsewhere go their way.
Triangle will host Highlanders in their next home game before travelling to Bulawayo Chiefs.
After that, they host Dynamos, travel to MWOS before returning home to face Simba Bhora.
The last two matches will be away to former champions FC Platinum and then a huge matchup against defending champions Scottland.
But Mangombe remains defiant, and hopes his side can replicate their performance when they beat TelOne 2-0.
“It is all about consistency, ” Mangombe said.
“We will try our best, and have to focus on our next assignments so that we do not drop points anymore and make sure our chances of surviving are enhanced.”
If Mangombe pulls this off and saves Triangle, it will go down as the greatest relegation escape story.
He has seven games to immortalise his name in football folklore.
