Madlambudzi Hall, located about 72 kilometres outside Plumtree town at the heart of Madlambudzi Business Centre in Bulilima District, stands as a central hub alongside the ZRP police camp, Madlambudzi clinic, Madlambudzi Secondary School, shopping centre, and residential stands.
This hall is a vital piece of infrastructure that brings together everything that matters in Madlambudzi.
For villages such as Madlambudzi, Bhaningumba, Tsukuru, Mphugwi, Mafa, Ngotsha, and Mpimbila, among others, it serves as a key meeting point.
From village development meetings, ward development meetings, engagements with stakeholders across sectors, food relief distributions, election campaign rallies, periodic meetings with local legislators, to skills training workshops, this venue hosts them all.
It represents a leap of faith in the day-to-day activities that define life in Madlambudzi.
On Friday afternoon, however, the hall will bear a somber mood as the bodies of Elliot Khupe (101), Butho Tshuma (97), Constance Sibanda (66), Tiffan Surprise Ndlovu (6), and Catra Matsika (72) lie in state for a special send-off following their brutal killings.
The area remains stunned by the tragedy, with an eerie atmosphere lingering over the dusty roads and homesteads.
The loss of these five innocent lives to a senseless act of violence has left the community numb and grieving. Villagers struggle to comprehend how such a horrific crime could happen in their midst, and a palpable sense of fear hangs in the air.
