A BOND SERVANT of Christ the Messiah you were,
A man who symbolised the goodness we all aspire to achieve,
A man who was obedient till the end and lived by a simple but powerful principle he received from God, when an angel appeared to him more than 85 years ago and said, “Fear not, sin not.”
It was the Lord who chose to anoint you to spread the message of Jesus Christ all over the world.
Today, we celebrate a life well-lived.
We celebrate the greatest hero of faith in our time.
When we remember what the Lord has done in our lives, we will surely not go back anymore.
Indeed, what the Lord has done for us, we cannot tell it all but only sing, shout and praise Him.
You never sought fame, fortune or praise, but pressed on towards the mark of a higher calling, the great commission: “Go ye therefore and make disciples of nations . . .”
We remember your sufferings, Baba.
We ponder on your sacrifice as you advanced the Kingdom of God through massive preaching of the true gospel for 75 years non-stop, and winning from Cape to Cairo, as well as from continent to continent, in more than 163 nations.
Indeed, we continue to marvel at your work.
Surely, no one can do this unless God is with him.
We see your love and patience everywhere, an image of the invisible God.
May this image of your suffering make us patient with our own burdens.
May this reminder of your sacrifice help us give ourselves for others.
May this image of love make us more loving people, who live and reign with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
You embraced all that life threw at you,
A classic tale of “when life throws lemons at you, you make lemonade”.
Your famous words of exhortation “People are people” are the best principle for soul-winning.
We are grateful.
You won the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children.
Your wisdom, kindness and compassion will always be echoed in the entire Forward in Faith family and the world at large.
We promise to build on the foundation which you have laid for us through the God of our father, the God of Ezekiel, for you did not leave us empty-handed, but left us a great inheritance hidden in the more than 100 books you authored as the Holy Spirit inspired you.
Till we meet again, Baba, may your dear soul rest in eternal peace.
