Tributes pour in for Masondo

JOHANNESBURG – Tributes are pouring in for lead singer of the legendary music group, Soul Brothers.

David Masondo was rushed to hospital in May suffering from fatigue after a live performance in Port Elizabeth.

He passed away at the Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg on Sunday at the age of 67.

Masondo’s friend and fellow musician Abigail Khubeka said: “We’ve lost a great artiste, musician, a leader in the music industry. He was one of the people who created sounds and gave African music style. He was part of the people that changed the African music, so called mbaqanga, they gave it a different sound.”

At the time of his death, the Soul Brothers were busy recording their 39th album. – ewn.co.za
