Prosecutor Mr Oscar Madhume proved that on January 12 this year, detectives from the Minerals Unit received information that the three were in possession of elephant tusks and were looking for buyers.
Five detectives were charged with the investigation and they intercepted an Isuzu single cab AAH1225 and aboard were Simon, Madziwa and Mashafunga.
The policemen identified themselves and conducted a search in the vehicle.
During the search, 18 elephant tusks which were hidden behind the seat were recovered.
The detectives asked the trio to produce a licence which authorised them to possess the elephant tusks but the trio did not have one and were arrested.
