THREE men were brought to court for stealing 57 chickens from their employer after they were identified by the complainant’s neighbour.
In a statement on X the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said, “On 6 February 2024, Edeline Tafadzwa Mapamba who is the complainant accounted for 471 chickens before handing them over to Saul Mhizha (23), Taurai Tsvangirai (43) and Christopher Marufu (32) who were her employees. The accused persons were supposed to account for any dead chicken. On 5 March 2024, the trio was identified by the complainant’s neighbour carrying a dead chicken whereupon they dropped the chicken and ran away when they noticed that the neighbour had seen them.”
The neighbour advised Mapamba who then realised that a total of 57 chickens were missing and only one was recovered.
The NPAZ said, “The accused persons were found guilty on account of the recovered chicken which was valued at USD6. They were sentenced to 4 months imprisonment wholly suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence within 5 years.”
