THREE men appeared in court for alleged theft from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development provincial stores.

Mangi Petro, 66, Fombe David, 21, and Mboneka Enock, 27, were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi.

They will be back in court today for their bail application.

The State said during the period between September 1 and November, the trio hatched a plan to steal from the Ministry.

The court heard that on several occasions, the trio went to the Ministry’s provincial stores and gained entry through the backyard to the warehouse.

They used an unknown object to break down and gain entry into the storeroom.

It is alleged that the trio took 43 chairs, 71 tyres and loaded them in a lorry.

It is alleged that the security guard manning the premises confronted them, but they drove away.

The security guard then reported the matter to the police which led to the arrest of the trio.

Investigations led to the recovery of the stolen property.

Zebedia Bofu led the State.
