A 47-year-old truck driver employed by MakMotors was on Wednesday remanded in custody on theft of trust property

Milton Muzanenhamo was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo.

The complainant is Insburg Freight Logistics Private Limited, which was represented by its operations manager, Jaqueline Murerwa.

The court heard that on April 15, Insburg Freight contracted Makmotors to transport 30 tonnes of bulk wheat from Beira Grain terminal to Lusaka, Zambia.

On April 20, Muzanenhamo was assigned by his company Mac Motors Pvt Ltd to load 30 tonnes of bulk wheat at Beira grain terminal using a truck, registration number AFQ3514 towing a trailer,  registration AFQ4997 and to take the load to Zambia.

Muzanenhamo proceeded to Zambia where he was supposed to offload his load at CHC Commodities Pvt Ltd at Plot number 123600 Mwembeshi extension off Lumumba Road, Chinika industrial area, Lusaka, Zambia.

He, however, did not deliver the consignment as instructed and instead disposed of the bulk wheat and pocketed the money.

Insburg made a follow-up and discovered that the consignment had not been delivered and filed a police report.

The value of the wheat was US$15 000 and nothing was recovered.
