ZIMBABWE is on a development trajectory and its citizens should trust the revolutionary party, ZANU PF, to deliver a better life for everyone, national chairperson Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has said.
The Second Republic is making progress with several key infrastructure projects — among them dams, roads, schools and hospitals — as it targets an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
Addressing party members during a mobilisation campaign for the August 23 elections in Mabvuku-Tafara yesterday, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said the developments being undertaken countrywide are in line with ZANU PF and President Mnangagwa’s goal of “leaving no one and no place behind”.
“As the Second Republic, we will continue to pursue home-grown solutions to resolve our challenges.
“ZANU PF is the only political party that can be entrusted with defending our national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity,” she said.
“Therefore, we can trust ZANU PF to deliver a better life for all Zimbabweans. Already, the country is on a development trajectory that is the envy of the world.”
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said Harare Metropolitan province is an embodiment of manufacturing, agro-processing and service sectors, and the Second Republic has executed an array of projects in the capital that are propelling economic growth.
“All in all, under the Second Republic, 121 projects have been completed in Harare Metropolitan province out of 267 projects currently being implemented.
“Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo (the country is built by its own people). We will build our country, brick upon brick, stone upon stone.”
Some of the major projects that are being implemented in Harare Metropolitan province, courtesy of the Second Republic, include the Mbudzi Interchange, the upgrading of the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport and the establishment of the Mabvuku Ethanol Plant.
In Chitungwiza, a new water reservoir is being constructed at Chitungwiza Hospital, while in Ruwa, a 2 000-tonne liquefied petroleum gas storage and distribution facility is under construction.
ZANU PF Mabvuku-Tafara aspiring candidate Cde Pedzai Scott Sakupwanya is vying for the constituency’s parliamentary seat.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri also said the ruling party remains committed to maintaining peace by defending Zimbabwe’s sovereignty.
Government, she said, is working to expose those sabotaging the economy and profiteering from the people’s suffering.
