A Bulawayo man has been sentenced to three years in prison for attempting to kill a fellow tenant in Tshabalala.
Dumisani Khumalo (30) was convicted by the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court following a full trial.
“Dumisani Khumalo from Bulawayo was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment for attempted murder. He will serve an effective 16 months behind bars after 20 months of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behaviour,” the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said in a statement.
“On September 2, 2026, the offender had a misunderstanding with the younger brother of Helman Sibanda, a tenant at a house in Tshabalala, Bulawayo. When Sibanda intervened, Khumalo picked up a hoe and struck him once on the forehead.”
Khumalo was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
“The victim was taken to hospital and a medical report was used in court by the State to prove that the offender’s actions were carried out with the intention to kill,” the NPAZ said.— Bulawayo Bureau
