A juvenile male (16) of Sawudweni Line under Chief Mathuphula in Tsholotsho was arrested for raping his cousin (11.
This was confirmed by Matabeleland North Police Spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda.
“Circumstances are that on 11 August at around 11 am, the complainant’s grandmother (61) went to Tsholotsho Business Centre leaving the complainant and her sister in the custody of the accused, ” said Banda .
The accused then sent the complainant to clean her grandmother’s room and she complied.
“He then followed her to the room and raped her once. After a while, the complainant’s sister followed the complainant and found the accused raping the complainant.”
On August 13th, at around 6pm, the grandmother returned and the complainant’s sister disclosed the entire ordeal to her.
The grandmother then proceeded to question the complainant and she then revealed the ordeal. A report was made at ZRP Sipepa on 14 August leading to the subsequent arrest of the boy. The complainant was sent to Tsholotsho Hospital for a medical examination. Police investigations are currently underway.
