TSHOLOTSHO FC coach Farai Tawachera threw in the towel after his side fell to Bulawayo City at Dulivhadzimo yesterday.
The beleaguered side moved base to Beitbridge hoping for a change of fortunes at the beginning of the season but they remain winless in nine matches.
Mkhululi Moyo (penalty) and Munyaradzi Mungadze were on target for Bulawayo City while Tawanda Zinaka got one for the hosts.
“It’s high time I give others an opportunity to take the team forward,” a dejected Tawachera said.
“However, I will be serving the team in a different capacity. We played good football but we were just unlucky. I have tried every trick in the book, but it’s not working.”
Tawachera becomes the first casualty of the season and could soon be followed by Mike Madzivanyika whose Harare City fell 0-1 at Chapungu yesterday.
Moyo put the visitors in the driver’s seat when he converted a penalty in the 34th minute after veteran defender Felix Chindungwe handled.
That was after Tsholotsho’s Nkosilathi Moyo had missed a penalty in the 11th minute as Bulawayo city defender Morris Kadzola handled under pressure.
Bulawayo got the second goal on the stroke of halftime when Munyaradzi Mungadze capitalised on a defending error and scored from a rebound.
Iziqholo ZeZhwane pulled one through Tawanda Zinaka header in the 46th minute. Tsholotsho went into yesterday’s game with two home defeats from Highlanders and Harare city, while their opponents had failed to collect maximum points from three matches.
And Bulawayo City coach Mandla Mpofu was ecstatic. “We had pressure coming into this game after playing three games without a win. We wanted this win like yesterday. “Overally it was a good game and my guys played their hearts out and we got the maximum points,” he said.
