THE Tsholotsho Road Rehabilitation Initiative (TRRI) will officially launch its community-driven road rehabilitation project this Friday in Nyamandlovu, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve road infrastructure and enhance connectivity between Tsholotsho and the rest of the country.
The launch is expected to bring together Government officials, traditional leaders, local authorities, development partners, members of the business community and residents from Tsholotsho, Nyamandlovu and surrounding areas.
TRRI chairperson Mr Cephas Tshuma said the initiative had reached a critical stage following overwhelming support from communities at home and in the Diaspora, as well as various stakeholders who had embraced the vision of rehabilitating the Bulawayo-Tsholotsho road that is key to the district’s socio-economic development.
He said the official launch would be officiated by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland North Richard Moyo, together with other distinguished guests.
Mr Tshuma said the initiative was a demonstration of what could be achieved when communities partnered Government and other stakeholders to address developmental challenges.
“This is more than the launch of a road rehabilitation project. It is a celebration of a powerful partnership between Government, traditional leadership and the community, united by one vision and one purpose of improving the lives of the people of Tsholotsho,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the Government, the office of the Ministry of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland North, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, traditional leaders, local authorities, development partners and all stakeholders who had supported the initiative from its inception.
Mr Tshuma also thanked individuals and organisations that had made financial contributions towards the project, as well as those who continued to mobilise resources and raise awareness about the initiative.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed, encouraged us, prayed for us and shared this vision with others. Your support has given us hope and confidence that together we can transform our communities,” he said.
He paid tribute to people who continue to pray for the success of the initiative, saying their spiritual support had strengthened the leadership throughout the planning process.
He said the event would symbolise the beginning of a new chapter in community participation in infrastructure development, with the road rehabilitation initiative expected to improve accessibility, stimulate economic activity and contribute to the district’s long-term development.
“Let us fill Nyamandlovu on August 7 and show the nation what can be achieved when a community unites behind a common purpose,” said Mr Tshuma.
