POLICE in Tsholotsho have arrested a 25-year-old man who has been terrorizing residents in and around the business centre stealing property worth US$3 482.

Herman Ndebele broke into 15 houses since mid-February and police brought his stealing spree to a halt on Wednesday.

Matabeleland North Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda, confirmed the arrest.

“The suspect is from Mafila Line in Tsholotsho and he stole from 15 people, including hospital staff at the Tsholotsho District Hospital.

“Besides cash, he stole electrical gadgets like laptops, cellphones and solar panels, among others,” he said.

Insp Banda said Ndebele was arrested in Nyamandlovu while spending money from his loot. He said property worth US$1 892 was recovered after his arrest.

“He committed the offence at night and during the day. He would enter some houses when the occupants had gone to work.

“He will appear in court today. We want to warn would-be thieves that police in the province will catch up with them,” said Insp Banda.
