UNITED Kingdom-based Zimbabwean musician, Lamont Chitepo, who is in the country to promote his album titled “Maiwe Kani Maiwe” will tomorrow stage a show in the capital.
Chitepo, also known as Tu Short, will be performing at Sphinx Night Club at Oasis Cresta Hotel situated at the corner of 6th Street and Nelson Mandela.
Tu Short will be supported by Urban Grooves singer Ex-Q who recently released his latest album “Put It”. Local Hip Hop singer Huby Blakes, Xpatriot and an array of other upcoming artistes will also perform at the gig dubbed Welcome Party.
“I had been out of the country for nearly 12 years. I have also done a number of albums when I was in the United Kingdom.
“This year, I decided to return home to promote this album which has been doing well in the UK,” he said.
Tu Short featured a Nigerian musician called Kin on the album.
“The album is receiving good response especially on social media and it was used as a skit on an online comedy show.
“It has been played on various radio stations and it also received good response in Nigeria where I also took the project for promotion.
“I am planning to have some collaboration with local musicians that include Soul Jah Love, Ex-Q and Trevor Dongo. I have since approached Oskid whom I think I will engage in those productions,” he said.
Tu Short introduced himself on the music radar in 1998 with a hip-hop group called Definition of Perfection.
He later released a number of gospel tracks over the years before recording an album called “Walk With You” before ushering a seven-track album “Ndiwe” in 2010.
Last year Tu Short released a 10-track album titled “Invisible”.
