Tuku, Chiwoniso to grace City of Kings

MSF-Spain head of mission Mari Carmen Vinoles said this was part of the international campaign called, “Positive Generation — Voices for an HIV-Free Future”.
“Positive Generation Voices for an HIV-Free Future is an extraordinary music project,” she said.

Vinoles said the project included a CD, a book documentary and website with songs from support groups in Bulawayo and Tsholotsho together with local and international artists that voluntarily collaborated on it.
These include Alejandoro Sanz, Juan Luis Guerra, Carlos Vives, Tuku and Chiwoniso.
This was done as a way of bestowing international visibility on the reality of HIV/Aids in Sub-Saharan Africa and highlighting to the people on available treatments regimes.

The head of mission said the campaign has four objectives among them highlighting the urgent need for attention to paediatric HIV at international and national level, focusing on the funding gap, the need for targeted strategies and the need for better treatment.
The campaign is also to raise awareness about the consequences of the funding uncertainty and instability on part of the donor community that are threatening the gains during the last years.

The other objective was to pay tribute to a generation of children, adolescents, mothers who are living positively with Hiv/Aids and are best testimonies to the fight against stigma and transmit positive messages.
“The project illustrates patients seeing their lives improving in a short space of time, due to treatment and coming to light to speak out and show others that treatment is possible.
“Their testimonies are key for others to undergo diagnosis, treatment and prevention contagion,”  she said.-The Chronicle
