Zim dancehall man of the moment Tawanda “Seh Calaz” Mumanyi on Monday hit the studio with Jamaican star Sheldon Campbell aka “Turbulence” to record a remix of the Mbare artiste’s hit song “Mumota Muriku- bvira”. The two dancehall artistes (pictured here) have had a good rapport since Turbulence invited Seh Calaz on stage during last week’s King of Dancehall contest and the crowd went wild with their combination.
After the show the duo performed a short freestyle rendition at the Lion and Cheetah Park in Harare which has been posted on YouTube.
“We did a song with Turbulence after he listened to my hit track ‘Mumota Murikubvira’ and saw the crowd responding positively to it in Kwekwe.
“That is when we decided to do a refix of it together,” said Seh Calaz.
Meanwhile, dancehall DJ Templeman aka “The Godfather” has lashed out at artistes who take their musical and lyrical rivalry to personal hatred.
“Artistes should clash on a creative level and battle it out to provide entertainment for the fans not to become bitter if they are not good enough on the day and someone else is on fire.
“Some of the artistes don’t like to share the stage with others but look at when Beenie Man came here, he had two artistes who performed with him even though they were not billed to perform. The same also happened when Elephant Man came with Brahma and Cocoa T came with two other unbilled artistes,” he said.
The dancehall elder went on to point out that the purpose of contests was to keep the artistes on their toes so that when opportunities arise such as a duet with Turbulence, the best artiste of the day would get the opportunity to showcase Zimbabwe’s talent.
The Jamaican star is expected to leave the country next week after holding a show in Mutare on Friday and a final one at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza on Saturday.
