Turkey pledges 10 scholarships to Zim

Prince Mukuna Herald Reporter
A local organisation, International Qualifications Evaluation and Authentication Consultancy (IQEAC), has received 10 undergraduate scholarships from Gedik University in Turkey for local students willing to pursue their studies in the European country.

The degrees, which are the only ones being offered in English, range from international trade and finance and mechatronics engineering. IQEAC executive director Mr John Manjengwa said the organisation intends to send 10 students before the university opened in September.

“The company aims to send 10 students to Turkey when the university opens in September this year,” he said. “The process of short-listing is on a first-come, first-served basis and we are currently short-listing students.”

It is believed the scholarships cover student tuition fees.

Gedik University board chair Ms Hulya Gedik on Thursday met parents of students who are to pursue their studies with the institution.

“The students who will benefit under this scholarship will be supported for the whole duration of the four years that they will be studying in Turkey, excluding the accommodation and food,” she said.

IQEAC is considered to be a conduit through which local students can get opportunities to study at foreign universities for either undergraduate or PhD studies.
