Turmoil in Chiefs camp

FRESH from booking a ticket into the Chibuku Super Cup final, there appears to be turmoil in the Bulawayo Chiefs camp once again.

With four days to go to their derby clash against Highlanders, Amakhosi Amahle are still to hold a training session this week.

Chronicle Sport has it on good authority the players are on an industrial action as they are owed salaries with some yet to get their signing-on fees.

It is not the first time the flamboyant side finds itself this situation. Chiefs players recently wrote to the Football Union of Zimbabwe (Fuz) asking the association to help get the Premier Soccer League to withhold prize money for the Chibuku Super Cup and for the league position so that they can share it among themselves.

However, the club’s communications officer Thulani Sibanda poured cold water on the possible industrial action.

“The team will resume training today. Our coaches considered giving the boys extra days off following their shift in the Chibuku Super Cup. Our preparations for the derby will get underway today,” said Sibanda.

Chiefs, who are safe from relegation, sit on position nine with 42 points.

They will miss a number of players for their clash against Highlanders.

Kevin and Elvis Moyo as well as striker Perfect Chikwende, who each picked their third yellow cards in the game against Bulawayo City will miss the tie.

In the reverse fixture played at the beginning of May, Highlanders had Adrian Silla to thank after he struck two beautiful free kicks right at the end as Amahlolanyama came from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw. Elvis Moyo and Arthur Musiyiwa had scored for Chiefs.

Chiefs striker Farau Matare was forced to play with an ankle injury in the Chibuku semi-final against Black Rhinos and is likely to be unavailable.

Bosso will be out for a revenge and they also want to consolidate their place on the table with the hope of bouncing into the top four in the event that Ngezi Platinum Stars falter against Black Rhinos. Ngezi are on position four with 47 points.
