JUST A few days after falling to Southern Rocks, Matabeleland Tuskers take to the oval to face Mountaineers at Bulawayo Athletic Club tomorrow, in a Logan Cup tie.
Tuskers go into the match still reeling from an innings and 43 runs loss to Southern Rocks while the visitors lost by eight wickets to Mid West Rhinos.
Mountaineers anchor the log with 22 points while fourth placed Tuskers are on 27, 26 points behind third placed Rhinos.
The match, which is not expected to be a cricket spectacle, will be a battle for pride with neither side keen to finish the race at the basement.
The Logan Cup in its 32nd year, has been another disastrous campaign for the home team.
Brian Chari, the Tuskers coach said the boys have been looking sharp in recent times.
“The boys have been looking sharp in recent training sessions. As a team, we know that things have not gone our way this season in terms of results, but we are looking forward and looking to rectify past mistakes in the upcoming games. “
The upcoming games are an opportunity for the boys to show a bit more of themselves and what they are capable of, both with the ball and the bat. Going deeper into the campaign we’re focused on batting deeper and for longer periods of time as well as being tight with the ball and sticking to our game plan,” said Chari.
The home fans will be hoping for a change of fortunes and a stronger showing from the Tuskers.
