TUSKERS ended their 2022/23 Logan Cup first-class cricket season with a draw after their match against Mega Market Mountaineers ended in a stalemate at Old Hararians Sports Club yesterday.
Bowling first, Tuskers bowled Mountaineers for 320 runs in 86 overs before going on to score 434 in 108.5 overs to get a first innings lead.
In the second innings, Mountaineers put up a brilliant performance with the bat before declaring on 401/9 in 128 overs. When the match was declared a draw, Tuskers were on 53/2 as they finished second from bottom in the five-team standings.

In the other match which took place at Harare Sports Club, Rhinos thumped Southern Rocks by an innings and 191 runs to close off the season on a high note. Rhinos scored their highest first class total in 20 years as they finished on 621/9 (declared) in 139.5 overs.
The mammoth score came after three centuries from Prince Masvaure (166 runs), Antum Naqvi (108 runs) and Remembrance Nyathi (100 runs not out). Takudzwanashe Kaitano fell for 50 runs off 94 balls.
Rhinos went on to dismiss Rocks for 203 runs in the first innings before asking them to follow on and bowling them out for 227 runs to register a huge win.
In the first innings, leg spinner Brandon Mavuta finished with the best bowling figures of 5/78 in 22.5 overs while Michael Chinouya took four scalps for 38 runs in 10 overs.
In the second innings, Naqvi was the star with the ball after he picked up four wickets for 47 runs in 28 overs while Mavuta took three for 112 runs in 29.3 overs. Masvaure took two wickets and Chinouya had one for 21 and nine runs respectively.
The two matches marked the end of the Logan Cup season with Eagles being the champions. The capital based side finished with 122 points followed by Rhinos on 117 and Mountaineers on 111 points. Tuskers, who were the defending champions had 110 points and bottom placed Southern Rocks finished 85 points.
