AWARD-winning television series Chipo the Gift is back on ZBCtv and is showing on Mondays at 7:30pm.

Produced by Rooftop Promotions, the third season of the TV series has 13 episodes. It follows the success of the second season which ended two years ago.

Chipo the Gift is based on a true story written by renowned playwright Virginia Jekanyika. The series had a huge viewership on ZBCtv and online (Rooftop Promotions YouTube channel).

Rooftop Promotions producer Daves Guzha said the project had a positive impact based on the feedback from the viewers which has motivated the institution to continue with its production.
“The third season’s production was done with support from Ford Foundation. It deliberately continues strengthening the change champion Chipo as she leads from the front through mobilisation of her community to take a stand against child marriages and injustice through a spirited demonstration.
“On the other hand, her boyfriend Spencer seemingly driven by a lack of resources for daily living, finds himself in a pickle as he gets himself embroiled in the nasty business of drugs and substance distribution which ends up badly,” said Guzha.

All the previous seasons are still available on Rooftop Promotions YouTube channel.

Since its launch in 2019, it has had two directors, Marian Kunonga and Nakai Beauty Tsuro for seasons 1 and 2 respectively.

Season 3 features Gamu Mukwakwami, Leo Jakata, Mercy Chirikure, Dalma Chiwereva, Stewart Sskarombe, Felistus Tizola, Charles Muzemba and Lovejoy Mwaonekwa.

Rooftop Promotions has produced numerous family programmes which aired on ZBCtv under the institutions’ long-term working relationship. It has also intervened in various emergencies like HIV and Aids, using film, theatre and art among other initiatives. – @mthabisi_mthire
