TWO Bulawayo men have each been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment for the 2021 murder of a 27-year-old man from Harlesden Farm in Nyamandlovu.

Ndabezinhle Sithole (28) and Brian Matinyadze (35) were convicted by the High Court sitting in Hwange for the murder of Arnold Moyo.

According to the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), Moyo was found dead inside his hut on 31 July 2021 with multiple stab wounds.

“The deceased was found with multiple stab wounds on the stomach, neck, back, head and face. His wife, Sitshengisiwe Moyo, made a report to the police about the death and that the deceased had been in the company of his friends who were unknown to her,” said the NPAZ.

Police investigations established that the two offenders were neighbours of Sitshengisiwe Moyo’s mother in Mzilikazi, Bulawayo.

“The offenders had travelled to Nyamandlovu on Sitshengisiwe’s invitation to purportedly assist with farming activities. Police later linked the offenders to the murder, in which they implicated Sitshengisiwe.

“Further investigations led to the recovery of the weapons used in committing the murder, an axe head and a kitchen knife, as well as the deceased’s stolen mobile phone and tennis shoes,” said the NPAZ.

The deceased’s wife, who was accused of conspiring with the two offenders to murder her husband, allegedly took her own life before she could stand trial.

“The NPAZ remains committed to ensuring that offenders who commit serious violent crimes are prosecuted and held accountable in accordance with the law,” said the authority.
