Two masked suspects attacked a nightspot in Bulawayo’s New Lobengula suburb on Sunday, injuring two people and fleeing with US$550 and several mobile phones.
Bulawayo police confirmed the incident, which occurred around 3:00 AM on 29 September 2025, prompting renewed calls for heightened security at business premises.
Deputy Bulawayo police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, said the attackers were armed with a black pistol, a knife and an electric shocker.
“On the 29th of September 2025 at around 0300 hours, the manager, a 45-year-old female from Emakhandeni, was at work when she heard a knock at the back door of the club,” said Assistant Inspector Ndlovu.
“Upon opening the door, she was confronted by two suspects wearing face masks. They stabbed her once at the back of the head, inflicting a deep cut.”
The woman’s screams alerted a male bystander, who rushed to assist but was also attacked.
“He was stabbed once above the right eye and sustained a cut,” added Assistant Inspector Ndlovu.
The suspects proceeded to the cashier’s area, where they escalated the violence. Using the electric shocker, they threatened and incapacitated the cashier before demanding cash. They fled the scene with US$550 and two mobile phones.
A police report was filed, and both injured victims were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Police investigations are ongoing. Assistant Inspector Ndlovu appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
