TWO men Bonface Sibanda (36) and Vavarirai Mark (29) have been jailed two years each for stealing from a Canadian tourist who was camped in Mvuma.

Sibanda and Mark were nabbed after they pounced on Kevin Paul Blackie in February last year and went away with a briefcase containing a laptop, US$2 000, 1 000 Canadian dollars and ZAR1 000.

Two Canadian passports were also stolen during the raid.

A police report was made leading to Sibanda and Mark’s arrest and the recovery of US$770, 530 Canadian dollars and the two travelling documents.

The duo were convicted and sentenced by a Mvuma Magistrate after they were charged with unlawful entry.

They were both sentenced to 24 months imprisonment, with six months suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

An additional six months was suspended on condition that they each pay Blackie US$665 and R500 by May 31.
