Two killed, one injured in accident

TWO people died while another was seriously injured when a vehicle veered off the road and hit them while they were standing by the roadside in Beitbridge Town.

Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele said the driver, Takesure Jakarasi also hit a car which was parked by the roadside which went on to collide with two more cars.

He said the incident occurred on Thursday at about 4pm near Engen Garage.

“I can confirm that we recorded an accident which occurred in Beitbridge Town where two people died and another was injured.

The driver, Takesure Jakarasi was driving a Mitsubishi Canter passing by Engen Garage when he lost control of the vehicle.

“The vehicle veered off the road and hit Patricia Tizora (39) from Harare and an unknown male adult who both died on the spot. The vehicle also hit Ntombizodwa Tshuma (34) who sustained injuries and is admitted to Beitbridge Hospital. The vehicle further hit a Toyota Wish which went on to hit a Toyota Ralm which hit a Honda Fit,” he said.

Chief Insp Ndebele said investigations into the matter were still underway. He urged drivers to ensure they exercise caution when on the road.
