Two little girls raped in Mashonaland Central

Herald Correspondent
Two girls in Mashonaland Central – aged nine and 10 were raped in separate incidents on Boxing Day as they walked around late at night.
This has prompted police to caution parents against letting their children out at night, or sending them on errands after daylight. Mashonaland Central provincial police spokesperson Inspector Memory Pamire said police have since arrested one suspect and are hunting for two other men.

One incident took place in Bindura when a 10-year-old girl went to a shopping centre at around 4pm in the company of her friends.
It is understood that at around 3am the girl’s friends decided to go back home but she refused. Soon after her friends left, she decided to go home alone. On her way, an unknown man grabbed her around the neck and raped her.

The second incident occurred in Shamva at around 9pm when a nine-year-old girl was walking back home after her parents had sent her to the shopping centre.

It is alleged that two men accosted her and took turns to rape her. Insp Pamire appealed to parents to closely monitor their children’s movements.
