Two suspects arrested for armed robberies and murder across Zimbabwe, implicating eight others

Two suspects have been arrested on allegations of committing robberies and a murder in various places countrywide.

Edson Murambidzi (33) and Takudzwa Makanha (24) are alleged to have committed the crimes in Harare, Mt Darwin, Mvurwi and Dotito.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “On July

19 2025, detectives from CID Homicide, Harare, acted on information received that Edson Murambidzi and Takudzwa Makanha were linked to several armed robberies, including a case where they attacked a financial service provider at Kuwadzana 2 Shopping Centre in Harare. “The suspects were armed with pistols while covering their faces with balaclavas. They attacked security guards and blasted safes with explosives before stealing US$9 000 cash.”

The detectives tracked the suspects to Musungate Village, Juru, where they arrested

them at Katsande homestead.

Following the arrest, the suspects implicated eight others who are yet to be arrested and led detectives to the recovery of a .38 special revolver loaded with five live rounds, two wi-fi routers stolen from an Econet shop in Mvurwi and a small torch.
