Two toddlers drown in Harare and Bulawayo: Police urge parents to enhance supervision

Two toddlers drowned in separate incidents in Harare and Bulawayo recently, with police urging parents and guardians to closely supervise minors.

The two tragic incidents occurred in Bulawayo and Harare on November 28, 2025.

In the first incident, a three-year-old girl drowned after falling into a toilet pit filled with water, approximately 2.5 metres deep.

The victim was playing at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo. In the second incident, a two-year-old boy died after falling into a well about six metres deep at a house along Gurudzi Street, New Mabvuku, Harare.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The ZRP implores the public to ensure that open water sources, pits and other hazards are secured to prevent similar tragedies.”
