TWO Zaka toddlers who were left alone at home on Christmas Eve, drowned in a pool.

The bodies of Praise (4) and Stanley Mudiwa (5) of Matigimu Village under Chief Nyakunhuwa were retrieved from a 1, 5 metres deep pool near their homestead by their father, Mr Benjamin Mudiwa.

Acting Masvingo police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa said the incident occurred on Saturday at around 10 AM.

He said the siblings’ bodies were taken to Musiso Mission Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

“We have received a report of sudden deaths by drowning involving two toddlers aged four and five,” said Asst Insp Dehwa.

He said on Saturday at around 10 AM Mr Mudiwa and his wife, Ms Rudo Matada, left the toddlers alone at home.

“It is during their parents’ absence that the two toddlers went to the pool nearby where they later drowned,” said Asst Insp Dehwa.
