Two women arrested for possession of illegal drugs

TWO women from Old Pumula were recently arrested after being caught in possession of methcathinone, an illegal drug.

The arrest happened at Pumula shops after the detectives from the CID Drug and Narcotics received information that Nokuthaba Sibanda (31) was selling drugs which led to the discovery of Lindiwe Mhlanga (25) who was also selling drugs.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the detectives got information about the drug sellers leading to the arrest of the two accused person.

“On 4 November detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics Bulawayo received information to the effective that the accused persons were in possession of dangerous drug at Pumula shops. Acting on the information the detectives proceeded to the said place and they first located Sibanda,” said Insp Ncube.

He further stated that a body search was done by the detectives resulting in the discovery of drugs from Sibanda.

“The accused person was subsequently arrested and further searching was conducted on the accused and another small transparent sachet with Methcathinone was recovered within her body. The recovered methcathinone weighed one gram with a street value of US$6.

“The detectives again proceeded to Lindiwe Mhlanga’s house where a body search was done and a big transparent sachet packed with six small sachets containing Methacathinone was recovered hidden in her bra leading to the accused person’s arrest. The recovered Methcathinone weighed three grams with a street value of US$30,” he said.

Insp Ncube expressed his gratitude to the members of the public for their continued support in supplying the police with the information that aid in the execution of their duties and bringing criminals on book.

“It is important that as the community of Bulawayo we fight  the scourge of drug abuse and illegal cultivation and selling of dangerous drugs by reporting any person that are involved in drugs dealing to the police,” he said.
