A 41-year-old woman from Tynwald, Ms Believe Chinotsa, lost cash and property valued at US$30 210 when her car was broken into while she was in a hair salon at Divaris Shopping Centre in Belvedere.

After spending approximately 40 minutes inside the salon, Ms Chinotsa returned to her Honda Fit to find the driver’s door open and the quarter glass on the driver’s side shattered.

The thieves stole a laptop and US$29 960 in cash.

Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case and urged motorists to be vigilant.

“We are currently investigating a theft from a vehicle involving more than US$29 000. Unfortunately, nothing has been recovered,” he said.

Insp Chakanza said motorists should desist from leaving valuables in parked cars to prevent such incidents.

“This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder for all motorists to take extra precautions to safeguard their belongings,” he said.
