UFIC brings cheer to inmates

Some 660 prisoners at Chikurubi Farm Prison and Chikurubi Female were this week given food hampers by United Family International Church (UFIC) through its Agape Family Care.

Agape Family Care is the brainchild of UFIC co-founder Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa, who is wife to the church’s leader Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.

The donation was part of Prophetess Makandiwa’s philanthropic programmes, that she embarks on annually, as part of her birthday celebrations.

In a statement, UFIC said:  “Annually, Prophetess Ruth Makandiwa celebrates her birthday by donating to the less privileged.

“This year she chose to celebrate her birthday with inmates at Chikurubi Farm Prison and Chikurubi Female Prison. Each of the inmates received an assortment of groceries.”

UFIC said the donation intends to give comfort to the prisoners to assist them in their rehabilitation programmes and enable them to look forward to becoming better people after serving their time.

“The donation which was handed over to the inmates by Agape Family Care, was themed Freedom Behind Walls. The theme indicates that one can still be emotionally, spiritually and mentally liberated even when they are behind bars serving their term as prisoners.”

The hampers were given to 265 at Chikurubi Female Prison and 395 at Chikurubi Farm Prison.
