adminPastor Elijah Khosa leader of the UFIC Zone 6 said the youths and members were doing this was a way of complementing the church’s founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa’s aspirations to help the community after he constructed a house for Chief Kasekete Changara in Mashonaland Central, among other community projects.
He said they were also inspired by the teachings of Prophet Makandiwa.
Pastor Khosa said the programme would be undertaken in most parts of the city.
“This programme will go on and other suburbs are on the cards since this is just the beginning.
“The Bible says, ‘Faith without works is dead’, and the book of proverb says, ‘train a child the way that he should go and when he grows old he will never depart from it’, so to be honest you will see more of our activities in the near future,” he said.
One of the youth advisors Tendai Mavu applauded the church’s efforts in addressing the woes posed by potholes which were a national concern.
“I would like to thank my fellow church members for making this event a success in extending our social responsibility to where we come from,” he said.
He said Prophet Makandiwa taught them good things hence they wanted the nation to appreciate that Prophet Makandiwa is a true servant of God who wishes a good welfare for the community.”
Some of the youths said they would continue to fill in the potholes until some of the roads were in a better condition.
