A Ugandan woman has been deported after she was convicted of illegally entering Zimbabwe without a valid permit.

Jane Nakazibwe (35) was arraigned before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court for contravening the Immigration Act after she was found in Zimbabwe without a valid permit.

Nakazibwe was ordered to pay a fine of US$150 or 2 months in prison in default of payment.

Further, Nakazibwe will be deported. The Court heard that on September 26, 2024, Nakazibwe was intercepted by the Zimbabwe Immigration Department officials who were manning a roadblock at the 334km peg along the Harare-Chirundu highway while she was aboard a Harare bound bus.

She failed to produce a permit authorising her to be in the country leading to her arrest.
