ZIMBABWEAN model, Primrose Mutsigiri, four times winner of various modelling contests in England, has relocated back home after a 13-year sojourn in foreign lands.
The 25-year-old, who jetted into the country to take up a job offer a few weeks ago, said she has been putting fillers to see where she can squeeze in one of her passions — charity work.
Mutsigiri said she wants to use the platform that her modelling experience has given her to be the voice of youths and the under-privileged.
“I have done a number of charity works outside the country and I would love to do that here to benefit those at home,” she said.
Although she won her first competition at the age of 17 when she was crowned Miss Zimbabwe UK in 2005, Mutsigiri said she loved beauty pageantry from the day she could walk.
After her first win, she went on to win a number of pageants, among them Miss Southern Africa UK (2006), Miss Africa UK (2006 and 2007) and Miss Malaika UK (2008).
Mutsigiri said it felt good to be home after so many years away.
“I left when I was 12 years-old and went to Ghana before I went to England. Before coming here I was in Ghana,” she said.
The former Tennyson Primary school pupil said as someone who has lived in Ghana before, it was natural for her to return to that country and try to create a niche for herself. While there she shuttled between Ghana and Nigeria.
“When I was there I was privileged to work with a number of popular personalities among them actor Van Vicker. Just across the border in Nigeria I have also worked with singer 2Face Idibia and footballer Obafemi Martins on charity projects,” Mutsigiri said.
She said she hopes to bring people that she has worked with in charity initiatives in the UK and Africa for similar initiatives in Zimbabwe.
“Since I have been away for a long time, I am just familiarising myself with how things are done here. I will then see where I can fit in,” she said.
Mutsigiri left Zimbabwe and moved to Ghana to stay with her aunt. After three and half years in Ghana she decided to move to England.
She is a holder of a Marketing, Human Resources Management and Business Psychology Degree from the University of Derby.
Mutsigiri said over the years her mother Sifiso has been her biggest inspiration.
