After a quiet spell of self-discovery, UK-based Zimbabwean gospel singer has resurfaced with a stirring new single titled “Final Say” — a song born from pain, perseverance and an unshakable faith in God’s promises.
Soft-spoken but strong in conviction, the singer says the track came straight from her heart.
“The song and title were inspired by life’s personal experience,” she explained. “God never promised us an easy life. Challenges and struggles will come, we will go through pain — but He promised never to leave us or forsake us. He has the final say.”
Shot in Harare and directed by the talented Simba Gee, the music video captures both simplicity and emotion — a visual reflection of surrender and strength.
The track itself was produced by Nigel Nyangombe, whose work adds depth and polish to the contemporary Afro-Fusion sound.
For her, “Final Say” is not just another release — it is a milestone. “I have been on a journey of self-discovery,” she said candidly. “It is not easy when you are new to the music industry. But I decided to stay true to myself and sing from my heart. Final Say is a reflection of who I am.”
The artist’s passion for authenticity is deeply rooted in the gospel traditions she grew up with — yet she’s equally inspired by modern Christian music that transcends cultures. “I ’d describe my sound as Contemporary Afro-Fusion Gospel,” she said. “It allows me to blend my Zimbabwean roots with a global feel. I want my music to touch hearts everywhere.”
Despite being based in the UK, she admits the journey has not been smooth sailing. “The UK dynamics are a whole different ball game compared to Zimbabwe,” she said. “Just juggling daily life is something else in the diaspora. But a lot of us are pushing — especially the ladies — and trying our best. The dream is still alive.”
With 12 songs already to her name, she’s steadily building a body of work that reflects growth, faith, and consistency. Her previous project, Jesu Ouya, was a learning curve that taught her the value of preparation and structure. “I learnt that I needed to be more organised, especially when I’m doing shoots that require a lot of travelling,” she reflected. “It’s those small lessons that shape you.”
One of the key influences in her career has been gospel musician Minister Michael Mahendere, who she credits not just as a collaborator, but a mentor.
“I have so many role models, but I would not do justice if I do not mention Minister Mahendere,” she said warmly. “He has been a great support over the last five years. Not only have I collaborated with him on two songs, but he always encourages me to keep going and not give up. His longevity in the industry is second to none.”
She also draws inspiration from local and international gospel legends who paved the way for women in ministry. “Mai Charamba — vocally, she’s amazing. I have always looked up to her growing up,” she said. “And CeCe Winans — her songwriting is exceptional and she remains relevant to this day. That is what I aspire to: timelessness.”
With “Final Say,” the singer hopes to inspire believers to hold on — even when life feels uncertain. “It’s a reminder that God’s word is the last word,” she added. “Whatever you’re facing, remember He’s in control.”
Poised between the past she honours and the future she’s building, this Zimbabwean songbird is finding her rhythm and her voice. And if “Final Say” is anything to go by, it’s only the beginning of a powerful new chapter in gospel music.
