The Layabouts, a world-class house act from the United Kingdom is expected to headline at Shoko Festival on September 27 at Alex Sports Club for the DJ party alongside Shoko Festival ambassador DJ Jason Leroux as they bring the night down with their diverse mix of electronic dance music.
Leigh Darlow and Alex Paschali’s immense partnership as The Layabouts was forged in the studio and since then has been on the up.
Juggling university studies in sound recording with engineering work at a number of busy London-based recording spaces dedicated to dance music, Leigh was eventually drawn to the renowned Earthworks studio facility in Barnet, just north of the capital.
In 2001, he met guitarist Alex. Both were working on separate projects but shared an immediate connection.
The pair, kindred musical spirits started working together on backing tracks for major clients including Ministry Of Sound.
The North London-based production duo debuted in 2004 with an album titled “The Way I Feel”.
This project introduced their soulful house style, which has an emphasis on vocal releases.
The Layabouts’ great live shows have seen them invited on tours across the UK and overseas.
Their live show at Shoko is in partnership with EDM promotion company, Hidden Culture.
Shoko Festival is Zimbabwe’s fastest growing international arts festival.
It will feature electronic dance music, DJ parties, hip-hop, dancehall, comedy, spoken word, new media discussions and workshops.
Shoko is produced by Magamba Network and is set to come alive from September 25 to 28.
