Police have released details of the tragic death of school headmaster who died in a road traffic accident in Bulawayo while coming from Kariba early this morning.
It has also since emerged that the headmaster, Mncedisi Nyathi, who was head Nyamandlovu Primary School and aged 52, was behind the wheel when the tragic events unfolded at around 0430am.
“Police confirms receiving a fatal road traffic accident which occurred along 4 avenue extension between Clark Avenue and Pauling Road, Bulawayo where one died and 05 passengers were injured,” said Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele.
She added;
“On November 29 and at around 0430 hours a male adult aged 52 years of Nyamandlovu was driving a Toyota Hiace along 4tu Avenue extension due east with 5 passengers on board when he lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and hit a tree stump. As a result of the accident, the now deceased died on the spot.’
She said the body of the deceased was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospital mortuary for post mortem while those injured were ferried to hospital and are in a stable condition.
“Police urges all the motorists to always exercise extreme caution and keep a proper lookout when driving to avoid loss of lives,” said Insp Msebele.
